This extensive country park was created on land between Dagenham and Hornchurch damaged by gravel extraction, opening in 1995. It has a number of lakes and ponds and groups of trees have been planted which are now maturing.

Fels Fields to the north of Dagenham Road has large grassland areas frequented by skylarks and meadow pipits.

Eastbrook Grove to the south houses the visitor centre and has several large water bodies, where ducks, grebes and coots nest. The eastern section, adjoining The Chase nature reserve, has a heath-like character.
